Philippines govt orders evacuation of thousands ahead of Typhoon Vamco landfall

 

  • The Philippines Weather agency said Vamco has intensified further prior to its first landfall in the vicinity of Patnanungan, Quezon province, while continuously unleashing destructive winds and intense rains within its periphery. 
  • It further added that Vamco made its 3rd landfall in the vicinity of General Nakar, Quezon.  
  • Vamco, with maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometres per hour near the centre and gustiness of up to 255 kilometres per hour, is the 21st tropical storm hitting the Philippines this year.
