Assam: Over 6 lakh people affected in 27 districts
- Cachar district administration has declared that all educational institutes and non-essential private institutes shall remain closed for 48 hours from 19 May.
- Surging water disrupted road and rail communications at several places and damaged infrastructure also.
- Nearly 8,000 people were evacuated to safer places in the last 24 hours.
- 6 senior ministers of the state have been deputed to monitor the rescue and relief works at Barak valley, Dima Hasao and Hojai.
