Maharashtra govt announces Rs 10,000 crore aid for rain-affected farmers

 

  • During a State Cabinet meeting that was chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the govt on 13 Oct decided to provide a compensation of 10,000 rupees per hectare for loss of agricultural crops.
  • An official statement informed that financial aid of 15,000 per hectare will be given for horticulture crops and 25,000 rupees per hectare for destruction of perennial crops due to floods. 
  • The govt has, however, limited the compensation to just 2 hectares of land.
